The Collection and Acquisition Programme (project: An Image of the City)

The project An Image of the City is a result of a collaborative effort of two associations, the Union of Associations of Fine Artists of Vojvodina (SULUV) and the Multimedia Centre ‘Led Art’. It’s aimed at carrying out a public call for the acquisition of artworks through the cooperation of the two associations on an annual basis. In this project, the two associations are in charge of implementing the entire procedure of the competition, that is, the Public Call, the selection and allocation of funds, as well as the formation of the new collection fund. Thus, through their representative character, the associations expand the activities they are entrusted with that are important for the culture of the city and region. The SULUV and Multimedia Centre ‘Led Art’ will function as partners and under a cooperation agreement, which is also defined by the Rulebook on implementing the Project – An Image of the City. The Rulebook also defines that the competition will be held on an annual basis, where the partners will alternate in the role of the project leader for the purposes of applying for funds for the implementation of the project An Image of the City. The project is designed to, based on the activities of two Associations, the Public Call and the selection and acquisition of artworks, define and establish a collection of works called An Image of the City, which will be made accessible to the public through their own capacities and by giving it to public institutions.

The primary idea of the competition is to strengthen artistic capacities and encourage new production, as well as to create a new collection of artworks by active contemporary artists from the territory of the city of Novi Sad.
