Više o izložbi i projektu:
The future is – trash? While navigating through the Corona crisis, the crisis of environment does not take a break. Globally, the mountains of garbage continue to grow even in lock-down mode. Pandora’s box is wide open. The flood of litter, discarded one-way packaging, especially plastic bottles, formed the starting point for the exhibitions TO ANOTHER VIEW (October 2020, Schaumbad Graz) and LET’S PET (May 2021, Schloßberg Graz).
Collecting rubbish and turning it into art is a powerful expression that refers to the problems of our throwaway society. The fragile ecological situation, caused by climate change and the destruction of the environment, is vividly illustrated and worked out by creativity. The aim is to raise public awareness of necessary changes in consumer behavior. We strived for constructive recycling!
Artists of the BVBK (Austrian Visual Arts Association Styria) developed their contributions of “artful upgrading” throughout 2020 and 2021. Artists from the SULUV (Association of Artists of Vojvodina) from Novi Sad sent their works in the form of ten manual instructions, being realized in Graz. On the other hand, ten Austrian manual instructions were sent to Novi Sad and were implemented by Serbian artists. Thus they have been presented in November 2020 in the Galerija SULUV in Novi Sad. The BVBK and SULUV already have a long-term cooperation with joint exhibitions and artist exchange programs. This transfer, which incidentally was already agreed before Corona, has proven to be the ideal vehicle for the continuation of the artistic dialogue in times like these.
The actual exhibition shows a selection of works being created during the general project called ”strange views” It was a part of the cultural year 2020 which was initialized by the city of Graz. The topic of “strange views” is to raise a discussion about environmental protection and sustainability. The aim of the art campaigns should be to raise public awareness of how to deal with waste.
